Overview

Industry

Utilities

Kalista Limited trades as Green Gorilla and was established in 2010. Green Gorilla are a waste collection, transport and processing company with approximately 150 employees based across six sites in Auckland and the Waikato. Our aim is to divert as much waste from landfill as possible. We currently have three sites in Auckland (Riverhead Transfer Station, CID Processing Facility and Drury Transfer station), three in Huntly (Rotowaro Council collection, McVie St Transfer station and GRP landfill) and are developing a transfer station in Tauranga. Our operations involve the collection and transporting of waste to our transfer stations (where the waste is sorted for further processing), or, directly to our processing facility, where reusable material is separated. Both Auckland and Huntly operations operate Council waste collection services. To maximise the flexibility and efficiency of our operation, our drivers are a mix of employee and owner drivers. Our waste recycling and sorting facility in Onehunga, Auckland diverts over 100,000 tonnes of waste from Auckland landfills each year. We separate recyclable materials such as metal, wood, rubble, cardboard, paper, aluminium cans, steel and plastic bottles – diverting waste away from landfill. Metals are sent to specialist metal recycling plants for processing. Our wood-chipping operation turns treated wood into wood chips, that is used for biofuel and untreated wood into landscaping chips and animal bedding. Whilst our plasterboard processing plant separates gypsum for horticultural and agricultural sectors. © ENVIRO-MARK SOLUTIONS LIMITED 2 020 PAGE 1 2 OF 5 3 Around 70% of the C&D waste is recycled. Food waste is sent to Ecogas to generate electricity. Any residual waste is sent to landfill.
