Top Energy Group is committed to operating a low carbon business with the vision of “Enabling Northland to contribute to the decarbonisation challenge”. Owned by a consumer trust, we operate in a way that creates value to our community of the Far North. This means actively addressing decarbonisation to protect our community from climate change. Top Energy operate an electricity distribution business and through a 100% owned subsidiary Ngawha Generation, owns and operates a 57MW geothermal generation business. With 96% of our total emissions arising from geothermal generation, in 2023 we targeted these emissions and have reduced our carbon GHG emissions by 62% (72,000 tonnes) through non condensable gas (NCG) reinjection from two of our three geothermal stations instead of releasing them into the atmosphere. Given the success, we are extending this to our third station over the next 12 months.
