Urgent Couriers operates in the transport industry which is by nature carbon intensive. However Urgent Couriers is committed to doing all that is possible to reduce its GHG emissions while continuing to grow the business.
Urgent Couriers first measured its emissions in 2001. Since then is has taken steps to manage and reduce emissions wherever possible. The management of Urgent Couriers recognised early that a major challenge was the make up its workforce that is primarily independent contract courier drivers. This model reduces the amount of control that the company has of vehicle purchasing and driver behaviour.
Urgent Couriers is one of the largest specialised on-demand courier services in New Zealand. Urgent Couriers is a privately owned company formed in 1989. Urgent Couriers provides the following services
● On Demand Local (ODL) – Car and Van delivery services around the Auckland metropolitan area ranging from 15 minute CBD deliveries to 4 hour Auckland wide and everything in between.
● On Demand Truck (ODT) – Truck delivery services around the Auckland metropolitan area ranging from 1 to 6 hour deliveries Auckland wide and everything in between.
● Road Run Same day (RRSD) - Dedicated couriers are available to drive deliveries to anywhere in the North Island.
● Air Nationwide (AN) - Consignments to and from all destinations around New Zealand serviced by a commercial airport.
● Nationwide (N) - Consignments to and from all destinations around New Zealand delivered the next business day.
● International (I) - Consignments to destinations worldwide
● Home Delivery (HD) - Consignments to nationwide destinations delivered by our Urgent Army Driver Contractors.
The Courier Service measured includes all deliveries completed on the above services. To achieve this we record all fuel used for Auckland based deliveries using our own contractors, and also all kms travelled by all other contractors.
