Yealands Estate Wines
Yealands Wine Group is a New Zealand based wine company which owns vineyards and a winery in the Awatere Valley region of New Zealand. Its core activities as a company are the grape growing, winemaking and distribution activities associated with its wine brands. Yealands Wine Group operates out of the Seaview winery in Marlborough. The Seaview winery was built from scratch incorporating sustainable design features including energy efficient technology and renewable energy generation. It is now designed to process 27,000 tonnes of wine grapes at full production. The Yealands Wine Group understand the environmental issue of anthropogenic climate change and, as part of a much broader commitment to sustainability, are Toitū certified for its organisation emissions, and selected wine products. Yealands has decided to move to Toitū carbonreduce certification for their products from the 2023 vintage onwards (release date October 2023) and organisation from FY 2023-2024. They plan to use the money previously spent on carbon credits for emission reduction initiatives. By doing this Yealands hopes to be able to bring forward their 2050 goal of being carbon positive. Under Toitū programme rules, this shift also permits Yealands to transition to use the carbonreduce mark under their current certification, as they are meeting the criteria.
