Enviro-Mark Solutions is excited to announce we are now Toitū Envirocare.
Our new name and brand identity signals a major change in our commitment to play a key role in inspiring New Zealand organisations to step up their efforts to reduce their environmental impact, and meet our collective emission reduction targets.
“Our new brand positions our company to achieve maximum impact for New Zealand”, says Dr Ann Smith, Chief Executive Toitū Envirocare.
“It reflects the evolution in our services from carbon measurement and offsetting, to helping businesses to transition to a sustainable low carbon economy.”
Toitū translates as ‘to actively sustain’ and was inspired by the whakatauki:
Toitū te whenua
Hold fast to the land
Toitū te mana
Hold fast to our pride
Toitū te mauri ora
Hold fast to all living things
Toitū contains within it the concepts of accountability, and connecting individual actions to achieve collective outcomes, values that are important to us as a business.
Taking the name Toitū Envirocare is our challenge and responsibility to strive for sustainable outcomes guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and continually learning from the wisdom of matauranga Māori.
The Toitū Envirocare identity was conceived in consultation with stakeholders, including clients, team members and governance, alongside Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research General Manager of Māori Partnerships, Holden Hohaia, and Dr Valance Smith, AUT Assistant Pro-Vice Chancellor, Māori.
Holden Hohaia says: "The process of developing Toitū Envirocare has bought our subsidiary closer to its parent Manaaki Whenua and honours that shared purpose of a thriving and sustainable future Aotearoa, a future in which we all play our part to help restore the mauri – the life force – of the land and environment.”

Our new look
Our new look anchored by our the tohu (symbol) which forms the “o” in Toitū. It represents the circularity of a truly sustainable economy, and was inspired by the tributaries of a braided stream which together form the collective momentum of a mighty awa (river) of change.
Our new certification brand suite has a cohesive identity which emphasises the individual and collective sustainability efforts of our members.
