Barhale is a civil engineering and infrastructure specialist with over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry and approximately 1014 employees, 70+% directly employed (office staff and site based personnel). Founded by our Chairman, Dennis Curran, in 1980, the group was originally set up as a specialist tunnelling contractor. Whilst we retain our tunnelling roots, repeated success in several sectors including water, transport, energy and the built environment has enabled us to expand our skill set and become one of the largest privately owned infrastructure specialists in the UK. We also possess a range of specialist skills to support our civil engineering and infrastructure activities including MEICA and a steel fabrication and supply subsidiary.

Barhale operate as a tier 1 partner for blue chip, regulated and private clients. We work as part of large frameworks, joint ventures and alliances, as well as on individual projects. We have offices/depots throughout the UK in Glasgow, Leeds, Walsall, Wisbech, Great Billing, St Albans supporting our sites operating in those areas.

The workforce (70+%) are predominantly employed directly, with specialist contractors employed as and when required to deliver work activities.
