The Lawson’s Dry Hills business was launched in 1992 by Ross and Barbara Lawson who planted the original company vineyard in 1980. The company owns four vineyards in Marlborough (58.7ha planted area) located in the Wairau, Southern and Awatere Valleys. It leases a further 20.6ha and also sources grapes from contract growers located across the region. Lawson’s Dry Hills’ wine portfolio includes Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer

The company is vertically integrated, including owning an 1,800 tonne winery in Blenheim, Marlborough. It is majority owned by long time shareholders, Pauline and Timothy Evill (79.4%) who increased their shareholding in December 2014, along with Sion and Biddy Barnsley. At the same time, Marcus Wright (Chief Winemaker) also became a shareholder.

The company integrates environmental objectives into all relevant business decisions to ensure best sustainable practices in winemaking.
