Port of Auckland Ltd (POAL) is the port servicing New Zealand‘s largest city. We have been playing a vital role in the Auckland economy for 180 years, delivering things Aucklanders and New Zealanders need and enjoy. The port is part of the special character of Auckland.
We are New Zealand’s hub port for car and container imports, handling 172,063 cars and commercial vehicles and 883,516 TEU (1 TEU = 1 twenty-foot container) in the 2024/2025 financial year, and New Zealand’s main cruise hub, handling 117 cruise ships in the 2024/25 financial year.
POAL is 100%-owned by Auckland Council and supports Auckland and it’s growth through the efficient delivery of freight and by delivering financial returns to our owner.
POAL has publicly committed to a zero-emission goal for 2050, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our emissions as quickly as practicable.
