Waimangu Volcanic Valley (2017) Limited is a relatively small tourism operation 20 minutes south of Rotorua. The valley was created by the 1886 Mount Tarawera Eruption which destroyed the famous Pink and White Terraces. It is the youngest geothermal system in the world and attracts visitors from all around the world. The main activities here are a Geothermal Walk and Historic Lake Cruise, although we also have a fully licenced café and gift shop onsite.

Waimangu Volcanic Valley (2017) Limited is owned by Te Hononga O Tuhourangi me Ngati Rangitihi Limited Partnership and operates on land leased off the Department of Conservation. Our mission is to share our korero, our history and deliver exceptional experiences to our manuhiri in a sustainable way. Our core values of Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga and Whanaungatanga help us to achieve this mission.

We are the Kaitiaki of Waimangu and have always been dedicated to protecting the land and caring for the environment and through the Toitū Envirocare program we will be able to continue to do so and also be able to measure the success of our sustainability efforts throughout the business and gain a more accurate idea around where we can make improvements to our sustainability practices.
