In 2009, 2degrees entered the market determined to give Kiwis a better choice of telco and a fairer deal. From day one we challenged the status quo by halving the price of calls and texts overnight. Since then, we’ve invested more than $1Bn into building our own mobile network to cover 98.5% of the places that New Zealanders live and work.
We acquired an NZ-based internet service provider in 2015 to offer ADSL, VDSL and Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) services, supported by award-winning, NZ-based customer care. In 2017 we announced a maiden profit and today we’re a fast-growing business with more than 1 million customers, a 1,100-strong employee team and 58 stores around NZ (own and franchise).
The future of 2degrees will see us offering our customers more services and innovative propositions that continue to keep our competitors on their toes and our customers delighted. Our brand focus on of “fighting for fair” since 2009 has been going above and beyond servicing our customers, and having an impact socially, focusing on addressing inequity and digital divide as well as environmentally, through nationwide scheme and programs linked to waste management and device recycling, and electricity efficiency.
The Toitū carbon footprint measurement and certification is our first step into understanding our carbon footprint and identifying the opportunities of reduction to shape a long term climate change strategy.
