In this story featuring Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, we're excited to share what's possible when incorporating environmental impact into business, in the hope it inspires others in the event and hospitality sectors to push for creativity, ingenuity, and progress on climate solutions.
With over 80,000 visitors in a year, Te Pae understands the unique opportunity they have to make a realistic difference in the city of Christchurch. They have channeled their resource and passion to prioritise sustainability, and this is reflected in their achievements, including a 12% emissions reduction in 2024 (verified by Toitū).
In this video, you can hear more about their initiatives, such as:
- Switching from plastic milk bottles to a milk keg system
- Using an eWater system
- Turning food waste into compost, with "Oscar" - the food dehydrator!
Te Pae has been certified by Toitū since 2021 when it was first built. You can find out more about these commitments on their certification page.
