The Kauri Museum
The Kauri Museum is administered by a Charitable Trust and enjoys strong community support. It is self-funded by entrance fees and profits from a retail shop and café. The Museum tells the stories of local pioneers through the theme of the mighty Kauri tree.
Their Mission Statement is: To record aspects of the Kauri Industry and Local Pioneers. To operate an excellent Museum with outstanding displays. To entertain and inform the public.
Their responsible tourism statement is: We endeavour to reduce the impact of our operations and limit our “Footprint” on the environment. We strive to support and preserve the community of Matakohe, the Northland region and New Zealand as a whole. We also strive to be a place of excellence in every way.
